But before we get to me bawling my eyes out for the night. I started off my morning rather normally. I was running about 5 minutes late, and then God sent a family of geese stumbling across my path. I was so excited, cause I've never been so close to ducklings, and they marched in the straightest line behind their parents. I figured, hey, I'll use them as an excuse to my lateness. (But of course, I made it on time, because no matter what time I leave by, I always make it there at the same time every shift).
The morning shift was busy enough for me and my fellow co-workers to make about $60, and hey, that's not too shabby. Then, me and my two girls, had the most outstanding lunch. At Maru, the head chef: Chef Moon, makes lovely personalized rolls. And I was lucky enough to get one as my final lunch there.
Yummy! Salmon, Kampyo, Sprouts, Cucumber, and Avocado. Topped with tuna tataki, crabstick, and halibut. Amazing.
An upclose view. A heartshaped cucumber, some tempura bits, and spicy thai chili sauce and sriracha.
My roll, and my girl, Maria's hibachi shrimp and chicken grill. :)
We ended our exhausting evening out at Old Chicago, a nice pizza/bar place next door. The girls surprised me and Jesse Sweet (an amazingly talented chef, who was also leaving Maru) with cakes and cupcakes. I drank a little too much, and ended the night in tears after I found out my favorite mexican was expecting a child.
There's always a time for goodbye. It's scary, and sad, and terribly heartbreaking. But it's how new beginnings start. My greatest heartbreak was that so many of my fellow coworkers were starting new beginnings: new jobs, internships, romantic relationships, expecting children: and I wouldn't be there for it. In the end, however, I will never forget my time there, and I hope they won't forget me.
Much Love,
Eden
